REHABILITATION THROUGH PUBLIC EDUCATION
Abstract
This article´s purpose is to bring contributions to the discussion of the criminal rehabilitation through the application of deprivation of liberty preserving the dignity of the prisoner through the development of public educational service in prisons. Using a research plan based in the descriptive analysis which was conducted through bibliographical revision, it’s going to be investigated how the public service of education can apply the fundamental rights of the prisoners, which are currently being systematically violated. Rethink prison as a strict punitive model, through the development and implementation of social educational services, is a way to restore the dignity of prisoners and offer a real perspective to re-socialization, considering education not only as a formal process, but a process of intellectual formation and professional training of the prisoner, building up possibilities for improvement and transformation of the life of the prisoner after prison.
