Elder and Labour Law

The Impact of Social and Labour Measures Against Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract

Social restriction measures aiming to protect the community against possible mass virus contamination are necessary and even recommended by health authorities. However, they have negative effects, mainly impacting the elderly and workers. This work aims to reflect on the impacts that social and labour measures have on elder and workers' rights, seeking possible coping measures in order to achieve a balance between the need for the right to security and the restriction of fundamental rights, mainly those of freedom. Based on bibliographic and documentary research, the information will be analyzed under a theoretical and doctrinal approach. Using a descriptive, qualitative, and exploratory methodology, the systematization of considerations will be enriched and supported by a socio-legal foundation.
